I had the opportunity to fish with Laynce Nix twice over the last few days here on Lake Okeechobee and for Laynce’s first trip down, Lake Okeechobee didn’t disappoint. Laynce has spent the better part of the last 9 years playing MLB and most recently was with the Phillies. The fishing was a little tough the first day but we still managed to catch 20 fish in the middle of the day on artificial. The second trip was a good day though, with lot’s catching and a few nice Lake Okeechobee bass.

Although we never managed to put a big Lake Okeechobee giant in the boat, we both know we lost a few opportunities but that’s part of it when your fishing this thick vegetation down here. The second day resulted in 40+ fish with three fish in the 5 – 6 lb range and plenty of good 2-4 lb fish mixed in as well.

All in all it was two awesome days on the water with a man who has lived not only my own personal dream of playing Major League Baseball but that of millions of kids around the world. Laynce is a true man that is very genuine and down to earth and I look forward to more fishing trips in the future.
