Yet another extremely productive weekend of bass fishing on Lake Okeechobee. The BFL started the tournament season off just as we expected, with a 30+ lb sack. The winning weight was 32 lbs 10oz (that’s right at a 6 1/2 lb average on five). What more can we say about Lake Okeechobee besides it is simply the Bass Captial of the World. Methods that were productive this past weekend consisted of punching thick hydrilla mats with small profile baits in a black and blue color (Missile Baits has a Missile Craw that works perfect for this). Throwing swimbaits in houdini, gold digger, and fortyniner colors have worked well when covering areas where fish are staging to spawn. If your just looking for numbers grab yourself a few packs of senkos and flukes and go catch some fish.
